The federal Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) and Texas Labor Code Chapter 21 forbid employment discrimination against people who are 40 years of age or older. In Texas, private employers with at least 15 employees and government entities of any size are prohibited from discriminating on the basis of age. However, there are a number of exceptions.
