Former reporter files discrimination claim against news station

A former sport reporter in another state recently claimed that his employer, a television station, discriminated against him. He has thus decided to file a race discrimination claim against the station. In the same manner, anyone in Texas who is mistreated in the workplace due to his or her race has the right to seek justice in civil court.

In the recent out-of-state case, the former reporter, who is African American, asserted that he had worked for his employer since 2013. While there, he had also served as an anchor and earned an Emmy. The man claimed that managers at the station typically alerted reporters two months in advance if the station would not renew their contracts. However, he allegedly ended up being released from his job with no warning or explanation.

The man therefore filed a discrimination lawsuit against the television station in May of 2018. Another reporter at the station also filed a discrimination suit against the station back in 2016. She ended up losing her suit, but she did win a retaliation claim.  

Sometimes, companies in Texas and other states mistreat their workers on the basis of their race. However, this is against federal and state law. For this reason, any individuals who experience race discrimination at work have the right to seek to hold their employers accountable by filing discrimination suits against them.
